DHAKA: Bangladesh’s star opening batter Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the two-Test series against Pakistan due to thumb injury he sustained during a franchise T20 match last month.
ESPNCricinfo reports that a fracture was reported on Tamim’s left thumb in an X-ray report on Sunday. The Bangladeshi batter had to sit out of the recently concluded T20 World Cup due to a knee injury. He will now have to watch Bangladesh take on Pakistan from afar.
Tamim said that the fracture in his thumb had ‘almost’ healed but it remained swollen.
Bangladesh are set to play Pakistan in a three-T20I match and two-Test series.
