Yasir Nawaz defends sharing hajj pilgrimage photos amid social media backlash

Pakistani actor and producer Yasir Nawaz has addressed the criticism he and his wife, Nida Yasir, faced for sharing photos and videos of their recent Hajj pilgrimage. The couple documented their journey and posted the content on their YouTube channel, sparking significant backlash from social media users.

In a recent vlog, Nawaz explained his reasons for documenting the pilgrimage, stating that performing Hajj was a profoundly memorable and life-changing experience for him. “For me, performing Hajj is a life-changing experience, and I chose to document it just as other pilgrims did,” he said.

Nawaz pointed out that many pilgrims from around the world also take photos and videos during Hajj to preserve their memories. He emphasised that the prayers and rituals they performed were personal and between them and Allah. “What we did during Hajj, the prayers and rituals, is between us and Allah. Others have no right to comment on it,” he asserted.

Expressing indifference to the negative comments, Nawaz stated, “The criticism doesn’t affect me. People who criticised our Hajj photos and videos should focus on their own deeds.” He stood firm in his decision to share his pilgrimage experience, highlighting that capturing such moments is a common practice among pilgrims.

Nida Yasir, also an actress and TV host, echoed her husband’s sentiments and extended a wish for guidance for their critics. “May Allah guide those who criticised us and bless them with the opportunity to perform Hajj as well,” she said, hoping that their critics could also experience the blessings of Hajj.

The couple recently completed their Hajj pilgrimage and shared their journey through vlogs on their YouTube channel, which led to a heated debate on social media. Many users criticised their actions, questioning the appropriateness of sharing such personal and sacred moments publicly.

Despite the backlash, Yasir Nawaz and Nida Yasir remain steadfast in their decision, emphasising the personal significance of their Hajj experience and their right to share it as they see fit.
