WASHINGTON: Bob Menendez, a key US Senator, said that he has requested the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to urge President Joe Biden to initiate the talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for better US-Pak ties.

The Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in a fundraising event, emphasised that such discussions were necessary for the establishment of relationships.

“I think it would serve us well to have such a conversation and, you know when we have these conversations, they are honest, and that means they are also transparent,” said the senator.

He stated that the two states should hold discussions on matters they have disagreements on.

“I think there is an extraordinary moment in which this is a relationship that can be rebuilt to what it once was,” said Menendez.
