After witnessing the success of the online businesses on Instagram and Facebook, the popular platform Twitter has also decided to launch the social commerce option. If successful, Twitter will become part of a $45 billion market in the US.
Currently, Twitter has launched a beta test version with a US company Verizon. In the first phase it launched iPhone accessories on ‘Twitter shop’. Upon clicking the item, the user will be redirected to the seller’s site. Last year, the app allowed users to showcase their products on personal accounts.
An experiment for live shopping is also under process, allowing buyers to shop products while streaming videos.
