SIALKOT: A Sri Lankan national was killed in mob lynching here on Friday after he was tortured before being beaten to death by hundreds of angry men and young boys. The deceased was identified as Priyantha Kumara.

Kumara was working as the export manager at a factory. He was attacked by the workers of his factory who killed him and later disrespected his dead body by setting it on fire.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar condemned the incident, calling it ‘tragic’. Buzdar has sought a report of the incident and said “action should be taken against those who take the law into their own hands”.

Notice of the incident has been taken by the top officials of the Punjab province, all of whom have directed the law enforcement personnel to reach the Wazirabad Road, where the tragic incident took place, and take control of the situation.

According to the spokesperson for the Sialkot police, details of the case will be shared with media in due course following a thorough investigation of the matter.
