Second phase of Jail Bharo Tehreek will begin in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

On Thursday, the prominent leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, announced the second phase of Jail Bharo Tehreek. According to his Tweet, the next phase of Tehreek will begin from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the senior leadership and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be arrested today in Peshawar.

In his Twitter statement, Fawad Hussain briefed that Thursday is the second day of the Jail Bharo movement that will take place in Peshawar. He added that leaders and workers would kiss the handcuffs to give the message of freedom. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain further wrote that, like Lahore, Peshawar would also come out for the movement for justice and against inflation.

Jail Bharo Tehreek

Note that PTI’s Jail Bharu movement started yesterday, Wednesday (February 22, 2023) from the provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore. On the first day of the movement, party vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, general secretary Asad Umar and more than 80 workers presented themselves for voluntary arrests. The arrested leaders and workers were transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail. It was decided that in case the Lahore jail reached its full capacity, then the arrested individuals would be shifted to Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Jail Bharo movement begins today

Imran Khan announced the Jail Bharo Tehreek on February 17, 2023. PTI chief initiated the movement as a protest against inflation and injustice to PTI and its allies. Over the past few months, several PTI leaders were arrested in different cases. Shehbaz Gill, Azam Swati, and Chaudhry Fawad Hussein are the notable PTI members that were put behind bars for various cases. A strong ally of PTI, Sheikh Rasheed, was also arrested, and his Rawalpindi residency, Lal Haveli, was sealed.

Due to the movement, the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and District Administration in Peshawar remained open on an emergency basis. The District Administration also decided to impose Section 144 across the city.
