MAKKAH: The Covid-19 protocols were imposed again in the Grand Mosque by the Saudi authorities on Thursday. The action was taken after the country reported the highest number of cases in December.
Having eased the social-distancing restrictions on October 17, the Saudi authorities had to re-apply them after a recent surge in infections. The floor markings were placed again for social distancing.
Masks have also been made mandatory for both outdoors and indoors. So far, 554,000 cases and 8,874 deaths have been recorded in Saudi Arabia. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia have recorded the highest number of positive Covid-19 cases during the running month. 744 cases were recorded in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
