Robbers shot dead private channel Journalist in Nazimabad

KARACHI: In a tragic incident here on Friday at North Nazimabad, a journalist of Samaa TV was shot dead. The armed men allegedly shot dead the journalist while snatching his belongings.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Usman Maroof briefed that Ather Mateen dropped his children at school and was on his way home. A bike with robbers tried to block his way near Shah Medical Hospital, Block-A.

He added Ather tried to run away and hit the robbers upon which they opened fire at him. However, he quoted some eyewitnesses, who said that Ather was killed on resisting the robbery attempt. The SSP added that the robbers had to leave their bike after it developed a fault and snatched a bike from another citizen to run away.

The deceased was taken for medico-legal proceedings to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said that they would investigate all aspects of the case.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also shared his grievances on the incident. He tweeted that all possible steps should be taken to catch the criminals.
