After the hike in prices of petroleum products, the opposition parties have lashed out at the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government. The increase in prices was called ‘petrol bomb’ by the opposition members on citizens of Pakistan.

Yesterday, the prices were raised due to fluctuation in rates of crude oil in the international market and mainly to fulfill the conditions set by the IMF. The hike of Rs12.03 per litre raised the petrol price to Rs159.86, infuriating the opposition parties.

Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif called the development a cruel and insensitive step. He added that people should give a befitting reply to the government at next elections.

The present govt is the most insensitive, heartless & cruel. By exploding the oil bomb on the people, it is snatching their right to live. I urge the masses to teach IK & Co. a befitting lesson at the time of elections. Those supporting this regime will also face people's ire.

Ishaq Dar, a leader of PML-N, wrote that the PTI government had devalued the Pakistani rupee which eventually played its role in increasing the price of petrol.

Dictated Pak Rupee devaluation has landed Pakistani nation with unaffordable prices per litre of petro products which have been increased by #ImranNiazi Govt to new peak:

Similarly, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) showed its anger at petrol prices by tweeting its grievances. Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto called out Prime Minister Imran Khan for sky rocketing the petrol prices after doing the same with poverty, unemployment and inflation.

Senator and PPP member Sherry Rehman claimed that oil prices had decreased in the international market but the government decided to raise the prices.

On the other hand, Chairman Jamaat-i-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq has announced a countrywide protest on Thursday following the increase in petroleum products’ prices.

جماعت اسلامی پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی قیمتوں میں اضافے کے خلاف جمعرات اور جمعہ کو ملک گیر احتجاج کرے گی۔
