Rejection of forced conversion bill leads to protests

ISLAMABAD: The forced conversion bill was rejected during the Parliamentary committee meeting here on Thursday. Minister of Religious Affairs Noor ul Haq Qadri has opposed the bill stating that it would create more problems for the minorities. According to him, it was not a suitable time to propose such bills.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmed also stood in opposition of the bill and called it ‘Anti-Islami’.

Lal Chand Malhi, a PTI MNA, expressed disappointment on the opposition of the bill. The situation has led the minorities to protest in many parts of the country as young people continue to get abducted and forcefully converted to Islam.
