LAHORE/PESHAWAR: The federal government is using all sorts of power to stop the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) from the Azadi march. Punjab police have started shelling at the participants of the march. However, despite facing crackdown and blockades across the country, PTI has commenced the Azadi march.
Chairman PTI will lead the march from Ambar Interchange after reaching Swabi. Security authorities have imposed Section 144 in Islamabad, Punjab and Sindh. Roads to Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also been blocked.
Imran Khan also issued a video message, reiterating his demand for a fresh election. He urged the citizens of Pakistan to join him in the protest. Khan said people should not be afraid of jail as future generations would not forgive us if no action is taken.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the advocate-general, inspector general of police, deputy commissioner, and chief commissioner Islamabad to appear by 12:00PM. A petition has been submitted under Article 184 (3) to remove the blockades from Islamabad. SC has also sent notices to provincial governments.
