Pervez Khattak resigns from party post, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi arrested by Anti-Corruption Establishment

Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Pervez Khattak announced his resignation from the post of PTI KPK chairmanship. During the press conference along with the former speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Pervez Khattak condemned the events of May 9 and what happened that day was reprehensible.

Continuing his press conference, the former Chief Minister KPK said he would decide his future after consulting the workers. Note that senior leader PTI Asad Umar also announced his resignation through a press conference after his release from Adiala Jail.

Regarding the resignation of Pervez Khattak, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that two senior leaders of his party, Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaiser, were members of the negotiation committee he formed and were called by intelligence agencies for a meeting, but later they illegally detained the party leaders in a ‘safe house’.

PTI chief says that Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaiser were forced to leave PTI in exchange for their release.

Pervaiz Elahi arrested

Meanwhile, the political crisis continued for PTI as former chief minister Punjab & party president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was arrested. He will be produced in the anti-corruption court on Friday.

Earlier, the anti-corruption court rejected the interim bail of Pervaiz Elahi. The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant till June 2.

On Thursday, the Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested Pervaiz Elahi from Zahoor Elahi Palace in Lahore. The police surrounded Zahoora Lahi Palace as they were searching for Pervaiz Elahi for several days. As soon as he reached the residency on Zahoor Elahi Road, the policemen arrested him.
