PML-N and PPP to meet for formation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) did not reach a consensus for the formation of government. PML-N and PPP now hope to find solutions in the sixth meeting.

Earlier, on Monday, the two sides had a three-hour long session but could not finalise the framework for the next government. PML-N and PPP decided to have another round of the meeting on Tuesday after consulting with their respective leadership.

PML-N Senator Azam Nazir Tarar remained positive about the bilateral talks and believed that the conversations were heading in a positive direction. Meanwhile, Information Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party, Faisal Karim Kundi, reiterated that the party would contest constitutional positions but would not become part of the federal cabinet.

PML-N and PPP govt in Balochistan

PML-N and PPP have started to finalise the details with Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) to form a government in Balochistan. Most probably, the next chief minister Balochistan would be selected from PPP.

PPP successfully roped three independent candidates Liaquat Lehri, Asfand Yar Kakar and Maulvi Noorullah to strengthen their government in Balochistan. The senior leadership of PPP would meet with members of Balochistan Assembly in Islamabad.

MQM eyeing ministries

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) delegation comprising Kamran Tessori, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Dr Farooq Sattar met with the representatives of PML-N team where the two sides agreed to continue to remain in touch for the formation of government in the Centre.

Sources claim that MQM-P wishes to secure the position of deputy speakership in the National Assembly and three ministries, including the Port & Shipping, Housing & Works, and Information. MQM has 17 seats in the National Assembly and would bag another four reserved seats for women. However, there has been no report of a formal agreement about MQM-P share in the federal government.
