ISLAMABAD: Amid the declining surge in confirmed Covid-19 cases, fuelled by the Omicron variant, Pakistan tested the highest number of people in 11 days yesterday, reported the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The latest numbers were shared by the NCOC here on early Friday.

According to the statistics shared by the NCOC, 39,540 people were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The last time the number went over 39,000 was on February 27 when 40,127 people were tested. A total of 723 people tested positive for the virus, slightly increasing the positivity rate to 1.82 per cent.

The NCOC also revealed that seven more people died of Covid during the past day. The number of patients on critical care is down to 677, from 707 a day earlier.
