New wave of Covid-19 sees rise in cases in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 675 new cases of Covid-19. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), infection has started to rise once again in the country. Recently, 16,632 people were tested, of which 675 came back as positive. The positivity rate has jumped to 4.61 per cent.

During the last 24 hours, two patients died because of the virus. Currently, 153 people are in critical condition. Amid the new wave of Covid-19, National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) has directed government offices to follow SOPs. Wearing a mask and maintaining social distance have been made compulsory.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also asked the nation to follow Covid-19 protocols. Social distancing has to be followed during obligatory prayers. People should also make sure to use hand sanitiser. Most importantly, those who are not vaccinated should receive the vaccination.
