KARACHI: On Monday, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah ordered to initiate a targetted operation to control the growing street crimes rate in Karachi.

A special meeting was called by CM Murad to discuss the rising crimes rate in the city. Murad has directed the Rangers and Police to conduct a thorough targetted operation. He asked for a progress report, within 15 days, from Station House Officers (SHOs) and directed strict action against officers who failed to perform.

Murad also told to start operations against gangs that operate from jail and has demanded results from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at all costs. Since January 1, 11,000 cases of snatching have been reported. Over 80 people got seriously injured and 15 lost their lives in street crime incidents.
