ISLAMABAD: In an interesting turn of events, the Supreme Court has suspended the January 11 ruling of the Islamabad High Court that had seen Monal Restaurant getting sealed and handing over its possession on grounds of encroachment to the said court.
The restaurant is expected to be de-sealed following the apex court orders. Justice Ijazul Ahsan was heading the three-judge bench that issued the de-sealing order.
Earlier, the IHC declared illegal the encroachment by the Armed Forces of the Margalla Hills and had ordered the closure of Monal. The verdict was subsequently challenged by the eatery in the apex court.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court suspended the verdict of the IHC on grounds that the order had not been issued in the written form and the verbal judgment held no importance under the law or the constitution.
