Met office rules out chances of heatwave in Karachi

Met Office forecasts heatwave-like conditions in Pakistan for next 10 days

KARACHI: On Friday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) ruled out the possibility of a heatwave in Karachi till May 15, 2022. The PMD predicted hot and humid weather with a peak temperature hovering between 34-36 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.

According to the met office, the humidity stood at 76 per cent, and hot and dry weather will prevail across the country.

Meanwhile, a thunderstorm is expected in Ghotki, Qambar-Shahdakot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and Dadu due to a westerly wave emerging from Balochistan. Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir will also experience rainfall, while a thunderstorm alert has been issued in Kohat, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan, Buner, Shangla, Swat, Dir, and Chitral.
