KP Counter Terrorism department announces Rs10 million reward for information about Peshawar mosque attack

PESHAWAR: To attain information about the terrorist involved in suicide bombing of the Peshawar Police Lines mosque, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter Terrorism Department announced a reward of Rs10 million for the person who provides information about the attacker.

The CTD released an official post in which the department posted the before and after pictures of the suicide bomber. The poster stated that any person providing information about the facilitator and bomber will be eligible for a reward of Rs10 million.

On January 30, 2023, a suicide bomb attack took the lives of over 100 people and left hundreds of people injured. The Peshawar police said that the bomber was dressed in a police uniform, and that is why the security staff allowed the attacker to enter the mosque.

The report by Peshawar police stated that it was possible the attacker might have resided in the police quarters for a few days. The report added that the attacker did not know about the directions of the mosque and asked about it from a police officer standing on duty.

The attack on the mosque pushed Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to call the All Parties Conference (APC) wherein he also invited the arch-rival of PML-N, Imran Khan. However, there were some issues with the date and the APC had to be rescheduled. PML-N leader and Information Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb said that the APC had been moved to February 9, 2023.

After the attack on the Police Lines Mosque, strict security measures are taken by police units. Recently, Inspector General Moazzam Jah visited the area and inspected the overall security measures. During the visit, the Peshawar police chief, SSP operations and other police officials accompanied IG Moazzam Jah. CCPO Mohammad Ijaz Khan gave a briefing about security measures and newly installed Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).
