Lack of proper infrastructure and security measures have caused multiple deadly incidents in Indian temples. In 2016, 112 people lost their lives during the Hindu new year celebrations because of banned fireworks. Thousands of devotees were gathered in the Kerala temple complex when the blast occurred.
Similarly, in 2013, a stampede near a Madhya Pradesh temple killed 115 people. Over 400,000 locals were present in that area.
