The bridge collapse in India, Gujrat, has taken 132 lives, and many are still missing. A rescue operation is underway to find the missing individuals. The footbridge, located over the Machhu River, collapsed on Sunday when sightseers were present for a holiday festival.
The armed forces, national disaster management team and emergency team are tracking the missing people. Authorities claim that over 400 people were present on the bridge. Locals who witnessed the tragedy said it was a traumatic experience.
The suspension bridge had undergone a seven-month repair work and reopened without a safety certificate. The state government has formed a five-member team to investigate the disaster.
