May-23-2023 proved to be a day of setbacks for Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf as two of their prominent leaders decided to part ways with the party. First, Shireen Mazari announced quitting active politics and PTI due to health & family issues. Right after her announcement, Fayyaz Al Hassan Chohan decided to resign from the party.
Shireen Mazari quits PTI and politics
Dr Shireen Mazari called a press conference right after her release and said that she condemns the events of May 9 & all kinds of violence. She added that attacking state institutions is more condemnable.
Re-calling her arrest period, she said that her health deteriorated & daughter also had to go through ordeals during the 12 days she spent in arrest; following these circumstances, she decided to leave active politics.
Fayyaz Al Hassan Chohan inks his name in list of leaders leaving PTI
Moments after Shireen Mazari’s resignation, the very vocal leader of PTI Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chauhan also announced to leave the party.
While talking to the media, Fayyaz said that he acted as a media advisor for Imran Khan and was saddened by the events of May 9. He said that the love for the army is ingrained in him and his family.
Fayyazul Hasan Chauhan alleged that the party leadership did not play any role to control the May 9 incidents. He said that politics should be done without violence and that clashing with the state is not the job of politicians.
The media advisor of Imran Khan also said that he remained side-lined in party for the past one year.

The list of leaders that are resigning from PTI is increasing day after day. After Fayyaz Al Hassan Chohan and Shireen Mazari left the party, former president of PTI Karachi, Bilal Ghaffar, also submitted his resignation. The following members have already left the Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf:
