ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has been asked to reappear in the Islamabad High Court with a thoughtful response in connection with the contempt case. Justice Athar Minallah expressed his displeasure over Khan’s statement and said that he should have gone to the lower courts before appearing for the case.
He has advised Khan to come up with a well-considered response and to go and inform the judges of the lower court that he trusted them.
Khan was due to appear before the Islamabad High Court today in a contempt case after he used derogatory remarks against district and sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry. Chaudhry had given the go-ahead for Shahbaz Gill’s physical remand.
A five-member bench including IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Babar Sattar heard the case after Khan was summoned in-person by the bench during the last hearing.
Islamabad Police took to Twitter to announce that it had devised a special security plan ahead of Khan’s visit to the IHC.
