Anti-Terrorism court issues arrest warrant for Imran Khan in judicial complex attack case

In a detailed report submitted by the jail superintendent to the Lahore High Court (LHC), it has been disclosed that the security arrangements for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail incur a substantial monthly expense of over Rs1.2 million.

The report outlines the specialised measures in place to ensure the safety and security of Khan within the prison premises. Among these provisions is a separate CCTV camera system installed exclusively for monitoring Khan’s movements, costing Rs500,000. This system operates independently from the surveillance system overseeing the other 7,000 prisoners housed at the facility.

Khan’s dietary needs are meticulously attended to, with his meals prepared in a dedicated kitchen under the supervision of the assistant superintendent. Before being served, these meals undergo inspection by a medical officer or deputy superintendent to ensure adherence to health standards.

A team comprising more than six doctors from Holy Family Hospital is stationed at Adiala Jail to provide medical care to the former prime minister, with specialised medical teams conducting regular check-ups.

Within the jail premises, Khan occupies two of the seven special cells available, with the remaining five kept closed for security reasons. He utilises the yard for daily walks, a space typically accommodating 35 prisoners.

Access to Khan’s cell is strictly controlled, requiring permission for entry, and trained personnel are assigned to maintain the security of his ward.

Contrary to the standard ratio of one personnel per 10 prisoners, Khan’s security detail consists of 15 personnel, including two security officers and three dedicated to his personal security.

A designated area within the jail compound is allocated for Khan’s recreational activities, furnished with exercise equipment.

Stringent regulations govern visitor access, and comprehensive security protocols are enforced during court proceedings involving Khan.

The report is a reflection of the collaborative efforts of jail police, Rangers, and district police in ensuring the security of Adiala Jail, with regular search operations and mock drills conducted to maintain vigilance.

Additional police forces, Rangers, and elite personnel are deployed both within and around Adiala Jail to uphold a secure environment for Khan and all inmates.
