LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and former prime minister Imran Khan claimed that he was in talks with the establishment to find a solution for the prevailing political crisis. Khan made the statement after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the coalition government had rejected Khan’s suggestion of consensus on the retirement of General Qamar Javed Bajwa and appointment of a new army chief.
The Haqeeqi Azad March entered Muridke on Sunday but faced multiple unfortunate incidents. A reporter of a private channel, Sadaf Naeem, also passed away after she fell from the container. Her death pushed Khan to halt the march before it reached Sadhoki. In another incident, police constable Liaquat Ali died due to cardiac arrest on duty in the march.
Khan said in his address that PTI wanted supremacy of law and new elections. The former prime minister added that he had criticised few officers and not the whole army as an institution. Khan also called Sharif a boot-polisher for supporting the establishment.
