Eight people, including six children, passed away in rain-related incidents as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab received heavy rainfall on Wednesday. According to Punjab’s Rescue 1122, two people died due to hill torrents in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. The area is also deprived of electricity and proper healthcare facilities. The death toll in Punjab has soared to 38.
The flood in Kasai Shahikot, Upper Dir, drowned five children who were returning to their homes after school. Dead bodies of four children have been retrieved while one body is still missing. Another flooding in Zangian Village, Samarbagh, claimed the life of a child whose body was recovered by residents.
Heavy flooding has left thousands of locals stranded on the Indus Highway. Similarly, hundreds of students got trapped in Mingora and were rescued by teams of civil defense and Rescue 1122.
Commissioner of Malakand Division Shaukat Yousafzai assured that relief activities were underway and all resources were being utilised on the order of chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
