Govt to announce Pakistan’s first-ever National Security Policy

ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the federal government will announce the National Security Policy (NSP). The military and civil leadership will decide the first-ever NSP of Pakistan in a meeting. The country’s external and internal security concerns will be discussed in the meeting to form the policy.

Minister Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that National Security Committee had been called for a meeting. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Jawed Bajwa and Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum will also attend the meeting. The minister said that the policy would be made public after approval.

The NSP aims to strengthen the military and economic security. It will highlight the upcoming opportunities and challenges for Pakistan in future. Further, it brings to the fore the problems regarding population, foreign policy, and water scarcity. The draft would also talk about the Kashmir and Afghanistan matter.
