ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said that the government was collecting the lowest tax on petroleum products compared to the last 13 years.

He said that hike in petroleum prices was an international issue, and the prices would come down when the supply situation gets better in the international market.

On devaluation of the currency, he said Turkish, German and Indian currencies were facing the same issues.

“The government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had artificially maintained the dollar exchange rate which caused a huge economic loss just because of their personal interest,” Habib was quoted as saying.

He further added that the government handled the sugar crisis very well as they timely imported sugar, and the Punjab government has ensured to clear farmers’ payments within 15 days to ensure record production.
