The winter season has not yet fully arrived, but the citizens of Karachi are deprived of gas and cannot fulfill basic daily needs. Gas load shedding has caused outrage in different areas of Karachi like Gulshan Iqbal, North Karachi, Soldier Bazaar, Korangi, Orangi, Baldia Town, Lyari and Ancholi.
The suppliers are transmitting a gas supply of 1600 mmcfd against a demand of 3000 mmcfd.
In different areas, women are forced to use wood as a source of fire to cook meals on open roofs. Gas cylinders are costing Rs5,000 monthly, causing financial trouble to common households. Women from different areas complained that children go to school without breakfast, and no one is listening to their complaints.
