Former military intelligence chief, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd), has been taken into military custody as part of ongoing disciplinary proceedings, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.
The ISPR’s press release detailed that the action follows a Supreme Court of Pakistan order, prompting a comprehensive court of inquiry by the Pakistan Army into the complaints raised in the Top City case against Lt Gen Hameed. The inquiry confirmed the validity of the complaints, leading to the initiation of disciplinary measures under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.
Furthermore, the ISPR noted that several violations of the Pakistan Army Act by Lt Gen Faiz Hameed after his retirement have been identified. As a result, the process of a Field General Court Martial has been initiated against him.
