ISLAMABAD: The plenary meeting’s concluding session of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will review the agenda of Pakistan. Despite the government’s hope, it is expected that Pakistan will be retained on the grey list till June.

The action plan to be completed by Pakistan includes action against combat terror financing (AML/CFT) and anti-money laundering. The 2021 action plan has to be completed by January 2023.

Pakistan was included in the grey list in 2018 due to a lack of action against these two points. Earlier, in October 2021, Pakistan had completed 26 pointers from the FATF action plan of 27 items but still could not change its status.

President FATFF Dr Marcus Pleyer briefed that out of 34, Pakistan has completed 30 items but is yet to act on two important points.
