ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar shared important pointers and issued warnings to agents regarding the Ehsaas Kafaalat programme.
Dr Sania explained that from February 1, the amount of the Ehsaas Kafaalat was raised to Rs13,000. She warned of strict action against agents and authorities concerned if they deducted the said amount. SAPM urged the beneficiaries to count the amount upon receiving as some complaints had been lodged against some agents.
In June 2021, the federal cabinet had approved the amount to be raised from Rs12,000 to Rs13,000.
The Ehsaas Kafaalat programme was launched to provide stipends to poor women in Pakistan. So far, the programme has catered to eight million women across all districts. The government has formed Ehsaas survey and registration desks in every Tehsil to identify beneficiaries.
