ISLAMABAD: The ongoing crisis regarding the appointment of new Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) took a new turn on Wednesday when Prime Minister Imran Khan received a list of the candidates for the coveted post of DG ISI.

It is being reported by several media organizations that the prime minister will interview the candidates before making a formal announcement. Earlier on Wednesday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had tweeted that the negotiations between the Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa and the appointment was ‘under process’.

The media was also abuzz with reports of a three-hour meeting between COAS and the prime minister on Monday. Several papers have reported that the COAS had recommended the name of Lieutenant-General Nadeem Anjum for the post but the prime minister wanted General Faiz Hameed to continue till March next year.
