Covid positivity ratio falls but Pakistan reports 38 deaths

Covid-19 positivity ratio swells to 2.32pc in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported less than 5,000 Covid cases for the second day in a row. The country has been battling the fifth wave of the coronavirus since the emergence of the Omicron variant here in December last year.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 3,338 cases were reported during the past day. However, 38 deaths were reported from all across the country during the said period. The Covid positivity ratio is down to 7.5 per cent – marking a week since it’s fallen from 10pc previously.

According to the details, Punjab reported the most number of cases followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. The NCOC tweeted that 44,779 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. The number of patients under critical care, however, stands at 1,684.
