Karachi: The Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the V Corps’ headquarters here on Monday. Corps Commander Lieutenant-General Muhammad Saeed received the chief of army staff and briefed him regarding the performance of the force.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the COAS was briefed regarding the Karachi Transformation Plan (KTP) and how the armed forces were playing a supporting character in the implementation of the plan.

The chief was also informed about the performance of the National Disaster Management Authority, National Logistic Cell, and Frontier Works Organisation and how they were working to enhance and safeguard the infrastructure of Karachi.

Bajwa applauded the efforts of the armed forces and all the stakeholders for executing the Karachi Transformation Plan, worth Rs1.1 trillion. Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan had announced the plan last year in September.

The plan will cover projects of mass transit, road infrastructure, sewage treatment, resettlement and clearance of storm-water drains, solid waste management, and water supply.

The chief of army staff also paid a visit to the martyrs’ monument of the Sindh police and praised the efforts of the department for uplifting the situation of the security in Sindh. He also met the martyrs’ families and saluted them for their sacrifices, ensuring them that Pak Army was always standing besides them.
