NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force has confirmed that India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat has died in the chopper crash near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu on Wednesday noon.
Gen Rawat is one of the 13 people who have perished in the accident. According to the information shared by the Indian Air Force, he was on his way “to address the faculty and student officers of the Staff Course today.”
The Indian Air Force confirmed the death of his wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat as well as 11 other people who were onboard. Of the 14 people on board, only one – Directing Staff at DSSC Gp Capt Varun Singh SC – has survived the crash and is being treated at a military hospital.
