Bye-bye iPod; Apple Inc will stop production of vintage music player

After continuing the production of the revolutionary music player, iPod, for over 20 years, Apple Inc has decided to formally retire the product. Launched in 2001, the iPod became the style statement and shook the music world but was soon overshadowed by music streaming platforms, smartphones and Apple Inc’s star product, the iPhone series.

The announcement was made by Apple Inc through a blog post on its official website.

Currently, iPod Touch is the only evolved form of the veteran music device that was launched back in 2007. Since then, no update has been made on the device. Media news claim that Apple has not reported the sales of iPod for the past seven years.
