KARACHI: Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry revealed that the Lahore High Court would be asked by the attorney general, who has been instructed by the government, to either bring back convicted prime minister Nawaz Sharif or try Shehbaz Sharif for submitting fake affidavit ensuring Nawaz’s return to Pakistan.

The former prime minister had travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) back in 2019 after being allowed by the court on grounds of poor health.

The court had allowed him to travel to the UK for treatment. Shehbaz had signed the affidavit then ensuring that his brother would return to the country within the given timeframe by the court.

According to Chaudhry, the high court should have taken the notice of Nawaz’s reluctance to return for trial but since it hadn’t done so, the government has instructed the attorney general to ask the LHC to ensure Nawaz’s return or try Shehbaz in fake affidavit case.
