Angry crowd in Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) chants anti-govt slogans

On Thursday, the pilgrims in Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) started to chant slogans against the coalition government when the latter entered the holy place.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia for an official three-day visit along with his delegation including Marriyum Aurangzeb, Shahzain Bugti, Chaudhry Salik, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Miftah Ismail, Khawaja Asif, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Upon arriving in Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH), Prime Minister Shehbaz, Shahzain, and Marriyum faced a crowd that followed them and chanted ‘chor chor’. The protesters manhandled the Narcotics Control Minister Shahzain and pulled him by his hair. They also filmed the situation on cell phones.

The federal minister said that he respected the holy places, and no one was allowed to speak loudly there. He added that no protestor had been arrested yet.

Marriyum said that she would not take name of the person who planned the move as holy places should not be used for political affairs. She added that they had instructed all workers to remain calm.

However, a group of people attacked former Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Qasim Suri at a hotel last night in Islamabad. He claimed that attackers belonged to PML-N, and guards of Shahzain were also involved in the assault. Qasim remained safe, but his friend sustained minor injuries.

The incident in Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) was condemned by religious leaders and politicians. Many citizens also said that such activity should not have been conducted at the pious and sacred venue.
