Accusing Pakistan of Mumbai attacks, Pakistani actors infuriated over Javed Akhtar’s comments

During the Faiz Mela held in Lahore, Indian poet Javed Akhtar blamed Pakistan for the Mumbai attacks in 2008. Javed also did not shy away to speak bitter sentences throughout the literary session.

The Indian poet said that the people of Bombay saw how their city was attacked on November 26, 2008. Accusing Pakistan, Javed Akhtar said that those terrorists did not belong from Norway or Egypt, the terrorists who spread terrorism in India are roaming in Pakistan. He added that if any Indian has a complaint regarding it then you should not be offended.

He added that in India there were big ceremonies in memory of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Mehdi Hassan. However, Pakistan arranged no event in memory of Lata Mangeshkar.

Pakistani Artists Outraged by Javed Akhtar’s Comments

After the Indian poet blamed Pakistan for the Mumbai attacks, Pakistani artists came forward to give a befitting reply. Actor Shaan Shahid reminded Javed Akhtar of the Muslim-killing riots in Gujrat. Shaan asked Javed’s thoughts about the Gujrat killings. The Pakistani actor further said that those who welcomed Javed Akhtar during the festival and sat at his feet should protect the honour of their country and cultural borders instead.

Saboor Aly also condemned the comments by Javed Akhtar. In her Instagram stories, Saboor said that someone came to our house, disrespected us and there are people sitting on his feet. She said that granted, there is no border for art but borders and lines are created for self-respect. Saboor pointed out that our hearts are so big that we send people with care and also offer tea.
