LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari cancelled a meeting with Jamaat-i-Islami’s Molana Siraj ul Haq after he fell ill on Sunday. According to media reports, Zardari had reported back pain on Friday and was taken to hospital on Sunday when it exacerbated.
Zardari was to meet JI’s Siraj ul Haq in connection with meetings the former has been holding with the leadership of several political parties to send packing the government. Both sides have agreed to postpone the meeting until a new date was decided.
The opposition has been very active ever since it has announced to move a no-confidence motion against the government. Zardari has already met two of the government’s allies – Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to convince them to join the ranks against the government.
