During the past few years, new trends and methodologies have been introduced in the field of education. With the help of new learning methods it has become easier to memorise, grasp new concepts and gain knowledge of hundreds of pages in a few hours. In Pakistan, Brain Training became a popular phenomenon after the work of Educationist and Corporate Trainer Sania Alam. With her institution Futuristic Learning, she has trained hundreds of students in the area of memory skills, mind mapping, speed reading and others. Most recently, Sania has been awarded the ‘Brain of the Year’ by the Brain Trust of the United Kingdom.
The Brain Trust was founded in 1990 by the inventor of Mind Maps, Tony Buzan. Each year the “Brain of the Year” award is presented as the highest accolade from the Brain Trust to the world’s best thinkers and high achievers. Sania was recognized with this award for her achievement in improving global mental literacy, refining education via super-learning and unlocking the vast capacity of the human brain. Trust Chairman and Grand Chessmaster Raymond Keene OBE in a gathering of esteemed guests held in Soho, London, presented the award.
Previous laureates include; Professor Stephen Hawking, astronaut Senator John Glenn, Prince Marek and Princess Petrina Kasperski. Rowing legend Steve Redgrave CBE, renowned Pakistani author Arif Anis, World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov and Michael Gelb also received the accolade. Leading brain nutritionist Professor Michael Crawford, inventor of Star Trek Gene Roddenberry, Prince Mohsin Ali Khan of Hyderabad, and eight-times World Memory Champion Dominic O’Brien are also among the recipients of the award.
Alam is currently among the 33 members of the Prime Minister’s National Youth Council of Pakistan. Interestingly she is one of the only four senior licensed instructors of super-learning in the world. Though mind mapping and other related skills are new concepts in the country, many children & adults are exploring them and it’s possible that they would become an important part of education in the coming times.
