The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Azam Swati addressed a press conference wherein he explained in detail as to how he was allegedly tortured while being in custody. He has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial to probe the matter so that others could be saved from such torture in future.
Swati, since he was released, has named two individuals from the Armed Forces as the main culprits for the ordeal he had to endure. It is pertinent to mention here that Swati was arrested following a controversial tweet – possibly – aimed at the Chief of the Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa.
He has alleged that he was stripped naked and was beaten continuously while being recorded on camera. Waving the copy of the country’s Constitution, he said that unfortunately it did not apply to Major General Faisal and Sector Commander Faheem – the main accused behind the said torture.
Swati has said that he would go to all international forums for justice since his honour and dignity was attacked by subjecting him to such brutal torture.
