Islamabad: On Tuesday, the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan ordered the government to register the first information report (FIR) of the Arshid Sharif murder case. After taking the suo moto notice, the SC heard the case today. Chief Justice (CJ) Pakistan Umar Atta Bandyal headed the five-member bench.
During the hearing, CJ asked for the final report of the fact-finding committee. The additional attorney general replied that the report would be given to SC after Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah reviews it. Upon this reply, CJ Umar Atta said that Interior Minister should be called now as everyone has the right to see the report. The additional attorney general asked for a one-day time to submit the report, but CJ said that the court has waited for the past 43 days. Umar Atta Bandyal directed to submit the report so it could be heard on December 07, 2022.
Justice Ijazul Hassan also asked about what action the foreign ministry has taken to inquire about the suspicious death of the journalist. The Supreme Court ordered the government to register the case of Arshad Sharif’s murder by today.
