KARACHI: The stock market experienced dull conditions on Thursday amid rising prices of energy products in the international market and the growing inflation issues.
The rising trade deficit of $31.9 billion played a part in haunting the investors. During the first eight months of the current fiscal year, the trade deficit widened to 82.2 per cent. The day closed at 44,525.72 points after the addition of mere 11.6 points.
A decrease of 19.7pc was recorded in trading volume and a 21.2pc in traded value. Meanwhile, the dollar gained 43 paise as the demand for the dollar has increased after the Russia-Ukraine war. The dollar was being traded at Rs177.83 on Thursday.
