QUETTA: On Sunday, the Afghan border forces attacked the Pakistan territory from the Chaman border with artillery shelling and heavy gunfire. As per the media reports, six people died and 17 were injured. Inter Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR) said that Afghan forces used heavy weapons for the attack, and Pak Army effectively responded to the cross-border aggression.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah condemned the attack and expressed concern about the cross-border attack. He also extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and requested the Balochistan government to provide full support to them.
The foreign ministry also condemned the attack and said that such attacks would affect the brotherly relations between both states. The foreign office further added that authorities of both sides were in contact to control the situation.
It is pertinent to note that the Afghan forces carried out a similar activity about one month ago. On November 15, two children got injured, and one security officer was martyred in a firing attack across the Chaman border. The incident had caused the suspension of trade between the two states.
