KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has denied the rumours regarding cyberattacks on nine more banks, stating that the hackers only managed to attack the servers of the National Bank of Pakistan.
The central bank added that even the cyberattack on NBP did not result in any data breach and none of its deposits got stolen. According to several media reports, fake news and quotes attributed to the SBP chief spokesperson Abid Qamar had been doing rounds on the socialmedia.
The central bank took to Twitter to deny the rumours and tweeted that all such news were “fake”.
2/2 SBP rejects these news. No bank, other than NBP, has faced a cyberattack. Further, no financial loss or data breach has been observed so far. SBP is monitoring the situation closely and it will share any update or information about the incident through its official channels.
