PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah emphasised the urgency for seriousness from the PTI in engaging in political dialogue, citing conflicting statements from the opposition party. Speaking on Geo News programme ‘Geo Pakistan’, Sanaullah, recently appointed as adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on political affairs, stressed the importance of all political parties coming together to address the current political and economic challenges.
“We as a political party and as political workers believe that dialogue is crucial to resolving the country’s political situation,” stated Sanaullah when asked about plans for dialogue with other parties, particularly the PTI.
Referring to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s previous call for dialogue involving all political parties and institutions, Sanaullah reiterated the PML-N’s commitment to inclusive discussions to navigate the country out of its current predicaments.
Sanaullah also revealed ongoing conversations with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the dialogue and indicated that discussions with him would continue.
However, Sanaullah expressed concerns about the PTI’s wavering stance on dialogue, noting inconsistent statements from its leaders. He urged the PTI to demonstrate seriousness in its approach to pave the way for meaningful discussions among political parties.
This call for dialogue comes in the wake of a reconciliatory tone struck by figures like PPP Senator Sherry Rehman and PML-N’s Irfan Siddiqui during a recent Senate session, contrasting with PTI’s Ali Zafar’s remarks about political victimisation.
Addressing Fazlur Rehman’s plan to launch a protest movement, Sanaullah urged a measured approach, highlighting the JUI-F’s past support for the PML-N during challenging times. He emphasised the importance of understanding Fazlur Rehman’s grievances and finding an amicable resolution to the issues.
Regarding the possibility of imposing governor rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sanaullah dismissed the option, advocating for dialogue to address concerns in the province.
Sanaullah concluded by affirming his commitment to supporting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in fulfilling his responsibilities effectively, emphasising collective efforts and teamwork in governance.
