ISLAMABAD: On Friday, the constitutional amendment bill for the establishment of South Punjab province was submitted to National Assembly. Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi presented the bill.
According to Mr Qureshi, the bill was part of the election manifesto of the incumbent government and has been presented on orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The bill has been included in the agenda that would be presented on Monday.
If created, the new province will comprise three divisions, 56 National Assembly seats and 119 provincial assembly seats. Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur will be part of the South Punjab province.
