In a chilling confession recorded before a judicial magistrate on Thursday, the prime suspect, Bilal, admitted to killing four female family members, revealing disturbing motives and a detailed account of the crime. The judicial magistrate (South), Kalsoom Mustafa Sahto, remanded Bilal and his alleged accomplice, Shehzad, into judicial custody following the confession.
According to the investigating officer (IO), Bilal claimed that Shehzad had provoked him to carry out the killings, saying he would only be permitted to marry Shehzad’s sister if he killed his own family. Bilal’s confession detailed the brutal sequence, starting with his underage niece, who was fatally attacked when she brought him water.
He then proceeded to his sister Madiha’s room and stabbed her. Following this, he attacked his mother, who was cleaning, before confronting his sister-in-law, who noticed his blood-stained clothing and resisted. A struggle ensued, resulting in her death and injuries to Bilal.
After committing the murders, Bilal reportedly changed his clothes at Shehzad’s residence and disposed of the murder weapon off Native Jetty Bridge, where police later retrieved it for forensic analysis. The IO disclosed that Bilal had been planning the murders for over two months, watching the Indian crime show “Crime Patrol” to devise his strategy.
A case has been registered at the Baghdadi police station under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the full extent of Shehzad’s alleged role and any additional evidence.
